Umami is a restaurant located at the historical center of Frourio, Larissa. The building was constructed in the 19th century and it is one of the few remarkable ones that is still standing. The case study was focused on keeping the original architectural elements while trying to divide the space in three parts: the main parlor, the two levels of the dining area and the bar. The stone structure of the walls was revealed and painted white, the floor was refinished while the upper floor was also renovated in order to function as a small grocery. Finally the exterior dining space was formed onto small different levels because of the escalation of the ground that was filled with plants creating a more cosy vibe. The materials used were tiles, cathedral glass windows, wood and marble.
